I’ve been playing canoe polo for 8 years now, and honestly, this sport (and the people in it) mean the world to me. ❤️ Our community in Rostock is split between the public university sector and an open club for all ages, but at the end of the day, we’re all just a bunch of people obsessed with throwing a ball around while trying not to flip over.

So, I built this site to give our community a proper digital home—a place where people can find us, get involved, and see what canoe polo is all about.

💻 What’s under the hood?

• Next.js for fast, server-side rendered pages (because performance matters).
• MapLibre to create static, non-interactive maps—so we can easily show locations without slowing down the site.
• Smooth scroll animations to make everything feel alive (but only where needed).

• Kubernetes-powered deployment on Hetzner (because why not go full pro-mode? 😆).

🚀 The result?

A slick, responsive, and fast website that brings the whole community together in one place! Now, if someone in Rostock hears about canoe polo, they’ll have an awesome site to explore instead of asking, “Wait… what even is that sport?” 😅

Honestly, I had a blast building this, and I hope it helps grow the sport. Who knows—maybe it even convinces a few more people to grab a paddle and join us on the water! 🌊🔥
